Developed ideas of separation of powers, and ideas of checks and balances, which were used as the basis of the US government.

Rousseau

Thought that the civilization ruined people, and that you needed to give of some freedom for the common good. "Man is born free, and everywhere he is in chains."

Diderot

Created the Encyclopedia with works of many British Scholars.

Hobbes

Created a social contract which required a strong leader to control all of the people.

Wollstonecraft

Fought for women's rights against people like Rousseau 

Bacon

He and Descartes developed the Scientific Mehtod
