Boxing in Haiti

Boxing first originated in Greece, around the year 688 b.c, and became part of the Olympics shortly after it became a popular sport. There are many types of leagues for this sport such as professional, and Olympic Games.

The general rules of the game are pretty simple. The objective is to dodge the other opponent's punches in a 12 to 20 ft. ring, and fire back with punches hard enough to potentially knock the other out. The person with the most knockouts at end of all of the 3 minute rounds, wins the match.

Boxing has a pretty long list of penalties/fouls. One can not hit the other opponent with an open hand, head, or elbow. Holding down the other to punch them is also not allowed. Blows the the back, neck and kidneys will not be tolerated either.

Boxing has changed a lot since when it first originated until now. It was very common to wear leather filled with metal to protect the hands of the players, however this often related the the other's death. Now, padded gloves are required, and weight classes give the opponents a better chance at winning the match.
