The Whirligig Project
By Karolina and Hanna
HOW DOES THE INFLUENCE OF OTHERS IMPACT OUR OWN LIVES?
“A teacher lives forever through his students.”
Teachers leave powerful legacies. Good work habits, sayings that have always stayed with us, the patience to teach us and believing in us more than anyone has.
"Fairytale or Reality?"
Terry Fox, still lives on, inspiring and influencing us.
“We never know all the consequences of our acts. They reach into places we can’t see. And into the future, where no one can.”
We are always influencing others with our actions even to people we don't know. They lead us and others to paths and forks in the road newly discovered.
Walking After Midnight
Think about it, how do you affect others?
“In his mind, his whirligigs were meshed the same way, parts of a single coast to coast creation. The world itself was a whirligig, its myriad parts invisibly linked, the hidden crankshafts and connecting rods carrying motion across the globe and over the centuries.”
Actions create after effects.
Rube Goldberg Machine
“They want us to laugh all the laughs that were taken away from them.”
Enjoy life in every moment, in every way. People have sacrificed their lives so we could live on and be happy.
We are impacted through history, emotions, actions and time. We are influenced by EVERYTHING.
Poem from Jenny
The things you taught me
The things you’ve lost
I’ll always recall life
Comes with a wavering cost
You suffered more than much
But never ceased to smile
Leaving a soft, light touch
Upon my hearts aisle
Now I know to enjoy
Even when we struggle for breath
Just as you had
As you lay on your death bed
I'll miss you dearly
Remembering the moments
You loved life sincerely
Imagining the ones you’ll always share with me

SELF-IDENTITY AND JOURNEY
My Bonnie Lies Over The Ocean
“He claimed one of the rockers, took out his harmonica, and began work on memorizing, 'My Bonnie Lies Over the Ocean.’”
INTERCONNECTEDNESS AND UNSEEN FORCES
“It was like a car breaking down. We quit without ever playing the second section. People made themselves clap. My mother just looked down at the floor.”
“For them the bus was an interlude; for him, it was home.”
“Instead of hearing the baby’s voice, she turned on the T.V. and let it talk all day long.”
“His second life had eclipsed his first. It’s moment of birth had been the crash.”
“That thoughts are powerful. That they’re the seeds of events. That by thinking something, we can help make it happen.”
“They are the pawns. You are a king.”
We understand that we have the power over ourselves and over others. We need to respect and acknowlegde that power by thinking about the consequences of our actions.
