Golf originated in Scotland in 1297. The Brazil Open is an annual golf tournament in Brazil. 


How it's played

The player must hit a ball into a hole with as few strokes as possible. When the player swings the club it's a stroke. Whoever has the least strokes wins the game. 


   

How many players

There are 1 to 4 people on a golf team. Lagging is when everyone gets on the green regardless of the number of strokes. The person closest to the hole gets 3 points while the person farthest from the hole gets 0 points.    

Length of a game

The length of a round of golf depends on a players skills. If they are good at golf the game won't take long. If they aren't good it will take a long time. 

Scoring

Scoring in golf depends on the number of strokes you have. Whoever has the least number of strokes wins the game. Whoever has the most strokes comes in last. 

Field dimensions

The average golf course is about 6500 yards long and about 30 to 32 yards wide. The average golf green is about 1517 square feet. The average golf hole is 4.25 inches in diameter. 

Strategy

Golf is mainly about strategy. Some strategies are to hit the ball to the fat part of the green and to monitor your tempo and rhythm. These strategies will help you win when playing golf.   



Major penalties

When a penalty happens a player gets additional strokes added. Some penalties include water hazards and when the ball is unplayable. The most strokes you can get taken away is 2 strokes.

Equipment

Golf equipment includes a club a ball and a tee. You use the club to hit the ball off of the tee.
