I learned a bit about what exactly the big fuss was about coding at the MMS this year.
It all started with me learning what binary code is...something I was completely unfamiliar with.
I won't say I'm an expert in code or coding!
However, I will say I'm learning more. Yesterday I didn't know what binary code is and now I can tell you it's basically the directions for the computer/system told in a set of only two different numeric values.
The definition of code by www.dictionary.com is:
A. a set of symbols that can be interpreted by a computer or piece of software.
B. the symbolic arrangement of statements or instructions in a computer program, or the set of instructions in such a program.
(BTW code is definitely a noun...says the English teacher)
Coding can be used to develop games and other programs. Basically coding allows your computer to do what you tell it. If someone wasn't coding, your computer wouldn't know what you wanted.
