Volleyball In Europe

 By Juliana LaClair

Volleyball originally began in 1895 by William G. Morgan. Volleyball was introduced to Europe by American troops in 1915. In 1912 they set it at six players on the court during playing time.

In 1916 sets were introduced. To be able to win the game you would need to win two out of three of the games. In volleyball if the player holds on to the ball then they would get a foul. Volleyball could have been played with feet. The net is 8 feet tall. In 1920 you could spike the ball. The team could only play a maximum of three contacts before sending the ball over. The rules of volleyball are different all over the world.

To end the volleyball game you must have 25 points to win if not the game could keep going. For volleyball you will need a ball that is 25.6 to 26.4 inches, a net, sneakers, a court or a beach to play. The measurements for a volleyball court is 60 feet by 30 feet. To get a point in volleyball you are trying to get the other team to mess up, if the other team messes up then you will get a point.

To help win you will need to make sure that your serve is powerful enough so it will be harder for the other team to hit it. Making sure that your positioning is right is a big thing. Yelling like saying I got it will also be a big impact on your playing.

In volleyball their has been changes. You use to never be able to make contact with the net like touch it but know they are letting you touch the net.

In 2010 there was a men's league called FIN. At the European championship in 2007 they got 4th place and it is the best so far. Europe will also be competing in this years 2016 Rio Olympics.
