Polonaise

From the Notebook for Anna Magdalena Bach

Riley Janz

The Notebook for Anna Magdalena Bach was given to her by Bach on her birthday for her to fill with her own favorite music. Multiple different pieces within the notebook were written by Bach and also various family members, and other artists which she copied into the notebook. Some pieces within the notebook have no identified author. Many historians believe that the solo, Polonaise, was actually written by Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach.

To the right is a picture of Bach and his family.

J.S Bach is a great composer, In fact, he was considered the best composer of his time. The had over 1,000 pieces of work to his name and was very devoted to his music. Bach loved his family, he was happily married twice, and had a total of 20 children (WOW!) Bach was also a very religious man and lived in a small part of Germany for his entire life.

To the Right is a picture of Johann Sebastian Bach.

Polonaise, a name given to many musical pieces, is a Polish, stately court dance in triple (3/4) meter.
