Harriet Tubman

Harriet Tubman was born in Maryland 1820 and escaped slavery in 1849.  She went back to help her friends escape slavery.

Harriet used the underground railroad passage to get her friends and family out of slavery.

She led hundreds of enslaved people to freedom of the underground railroad.  

She returned a lot to save her family members from the plantation system.  She was born with enslaved parents.

When she escaped she fled to Philadelphia.

Harriet was known for the under ground railroad which was for her to go and try to have people escape slavery.

She was also known as risking her life to help escape the other people.  She was also the first women to lead a military expedition.
