Leagues of speed skating include the International Speedskating League and Olympic level team
Equipment includes arm bands, glasses, clap skates, blades, racing
Skaters are run counter-clockwise on either a 111 meter or 400 meter track.
In short track, two to six skaters run at once. In long, two teams of each three or four skaters run at once.
Igor Zehelezovski of Belarus won a silver medal in speed skating at the 1994 Olympics.
Skaters may be disqualified for false starts, cutting in front of a skater, or cutting inside the track.
