  1. Flesh colored lesion
  2. Moles changing in size and color
  3. Rough, raised, and or scaly patches of skin
  4. Smooth, shiny, and or pearly areas of skin
  5. Firm, red nodules

Risk Behaviors

1. Fair skin

2. History of sunburns

3. Excessive sun exposure

4. Living in sunny or high- 

    altitude places

5. Abnormal moles

6. Exposure to radiation

7. Family history of skin 

    cancer

8. Light colored eyes

Treatment

  1. Surgery
  2. Radiation therapy
  3. Chemotherapy
  4. Photodynamic therapy
  5. Biologic therapy
  6. Targeted therapy

Prevention

  1. Apply sunscreen
  2. Avoid the sun at midday
  3. Avoid tanning beds
  4. Wear protective clothing like sunglasses, hats, and long-sleeved shirts and pants
