Speed Skating in Belgium
To play a game of speed skating you would need protective glasses, special rounded skate blades, colored armbands, clap skates (not fully attached to the skate), and a skin tight racing suit to make the player more aerodynamic.
Speed Skating is a competitive game of ice skating. There are many different games that can be played in speed skating. Long track, short track, the players have to go as fast as they can and try to finish before the other players. The tracks for speed skating are many different lengths. The length depends on the race/game they are doing. Even the amount of time in a game depends on what game they play and how fast the racers are.
The sport of speed skating has changed from its original form in many ways. One way is that a man had created an iron blade for a skate, and they used it to travel on ice, but later on they found the skates fun, and maybe even useful for a sport. When the sport started to form, people had made an all-steel blade. Soon people loved the game, and started to explore it more, and added rules, and even different games.
The some major penalties of speed skating are false starts. Such as, starting to race before the gun goes off, or even taking to long to get to the starting line before the race. Also, another penalty is not wearing the correct safety gear, or losing or taking off your equipment during the game/race.
The sport actually originated in The Netherlands. Natives added bones to their shoes to travel over frozen water (Lakes, river, etc.) Speed skating actually made it to the Olympics in 1924 for the winter games.
Normally, in a game of Speed skating there are about 3-5 people skating at once. Although some people may get disqualified for certain things like, taking off gear while racing, or not wearing the correct protective gear in the first place.
In a game of speed skating, it is hard to score points for each player. The players may be disqualified from a game for many reasons. The player is mostly scored by their participation, there willingness to follow the rules, and the places they take.
The basic tactics of the game is to follow the rules with preciseness, and to try to go as fast as they can to place.
