Some rules of the sport. You cannot hit with your head, shoulder, forearm, or elbow. You can't hold your opponent and hit them at the same time. You cannot spit out your mouth piece on purpose to get a rest. If you "floor" your opponent you can't hit him while he's on the canvas. If a boxer is floored they have up to ten seconds to get back up on their feet before losing to a knockout. If a foul results in an injury that causes the fight to end immediately then that person who committed the foul is disqualified. If any of those rules are broken it is considered a foul and can result in a warning, point deduction, or disqualification, given by the referee.

Boxing matches are usually 12 rounds that last 3 minutes long with 1 minute in between each round. So the whole match normally lasts 48 minutes.
The judges usually give each boxer a score after every round. They follow a 10 point must system where the winner automatically gets 10 points and the loser gets 9. If the losers opponent scores a knockdown the loser looses another point. But if both boxers get knocked down there are no deductions.
The size of the ring differs depending on if it is an amateur or professional match. Professional rings are usually 18-24 square feet. While amateur rings are usually 16-20 square feet.
Three tactics of boxing are the exploratory or studying style, the offensive, and the defensive. The exploratory style is used as a way to study your opponents tactics. The offensive style is where you fight your opponent with he goal of getting the initiative. The defensive tactic is the way of fighting the opponent with the initiative.
