WHERE IT ALL BEGAN...

She loved sport from a young age but she didn't feel out of place amongst her teammates because of her religious observance to dress modestly

but the day she saw a fencing team practice she knew this is what she wanted to do

WHERE IT ALL BEGAN...

He started sport at a very early age.

  At the age of 15, he was approached by a National team coach visiting his hometown.

Inspired by the Canadian legend Jeff Adams during the 2000 Paralympics, he start practicing wheelchair racing  

THEIR SPORT

She attended the Peter Westbrook Foundation, 

then she attended Mapplewood's Columbia High school where she excelled and became captain of the fencing team and helped win two state championships.

The first in a long series 

As he has been noticed by the national wheelchair racing team coach , he reaches the high level very quickly.

He enter his first national team in 2006 and competed in his first paralympics in Beijing two years after.

TWO STRONG PERSONALITIES

From a very young age, Ibtihaj had a competitive streak.

Moreover she hasn't faltered in breaking down prejudiced about veiled woman doing sport.

She even decided to change her weaponry from the epee, finding the saber more suited to her personality.

The oldest of 10 children, Josh has a natural leader personalty. His siblings never noticed the wheelchair or a disability. He has the attitude of a fighter always working harder to achieve more.

PERSONNALITIES WHICH HAVE PAID OFF 

Thanks to his determination Cassidy made lots of achievements:

-World’s fastest marathon – 1:18:25

-Canadian Champion for the past 5 years

-Winner 2012 Boston Marathon & 2010 London Marathon

-Canadian Record Holder: 1500m / 5000m / 10000m & Marathon

~He won over 75 Medals~

 

During her first year at college in 2004, she earned All-America honors with a record of 49-8.

Then she ended second at the mid-Atlantic/South Regional and 21st at the Junior Olympics.

She finished 11th for saber at the NCAA  championship

~She earned three All-America honors in total~
