Use the Periodical List only when you want to search articles in a specific publication such as the Journal of Social Work. Otherwise use databases to search for articles across multiple publications.
Recommended specialized databases: PsycNet, PubMed, Psychology & Behavioral Sciences, Health Source, Alt Health Watch, and ERIC for education topics.
Have a list of terms to use in your searches, think of synonyms , related terms, look for subject terms associated with articles you find interested and construct search string combining different terms.
Look for additional articles...
Check out the references in an article and find out if we have access via Periodical List or Google Scholar. Also check if articles have been cited by others in Google Scholar.
Citation management tools are not perfect, always check your references with the proper citation manual style. In the Social Work Guide there is a link to APA handouts and links to citation management tools.
