Basketball was started in Yugoslavia after World War ll

There are two teams. The teams score by making baskets in the other teams baskets. The team with the most points at the end wins.

There are 10 people that play at a time, 5 on each team.

The games usually take 2- 2.5 hours 

Scoring

Field goals give you 2- 3 points, free throws give you one. If a field goal is made behind the three point line, 3 points are won. 

A collage court is 94 feet long and 50 feet wide. A high school court is 84 feet long and 50 feet wide.

 The free throw line is 15 feet from the backboard. It is also 2 inches wide.


Score baskets to win. There is a defense and offence.

Fouls, traveling, carrying, basket interference, and double dribble are just a few of the many penalties.

Equipment

-A basketball (made of rubber, fiber, and leather.)

-A basket (hoop)

-A score board

Originally there was not a set number of players, then it was changed to 9 players on each side

The first basketball games they used soccer balls.
